ABOUT

Michelle Anslow - Founder and designer at Susy Harper, since 1999.

I’m a hands-on designer - I let the structure and fall of cloth lead the way...
I love the differing textures of natural materials: the springy, earthiness of Scottish tweeds; the soft scrunch of Irish linens; the individuality of hand-loomed khadi cottons from India, and the very many beautiful ways of silk. Also, how the cloth wears as it’s washed, worn and lived in.
When making my patterns, I think about how we want our clothes to make us feel and how they can be versatile and functional as well as feminine and lovely.
Online shopping - Some pieces are in stock and ready to send, and some are made to order - we will confirm this by email when your order is placed. The lead time on made-to-order is typically two to three weeks.

Why Susy Harper?
Because Susy Harper was my Mum's maiden name. As a child, I loved her clothes and the clothes she made for me. I knew she had style, and I always loved that name - it rings 1960’s to me, and I'm inspired by that time and Mum's own style within it. Here she is, Susy Harper, standing in white, on a Sunday School trip to the Alps, with the Matterhorn in the background. Circa 1960.
